Purpose This study was conducted to understand sexual knowledge, sexual attitudes, and the perceptions and actualities of sex education among parents of elementary school children.
Methods This is a descriptive study with a sample size of 337. SPSS version 21.0 was used for data analysis, including descriptive analyses, the t-test, and Pearson correlation analysis.
Results More than 50% of the participants responded that primary sex education for young children should be the responsibility of the parents and that education should be stared during the elementary school period. A moderate correlation was found between parents’ sexual knowledge and sexual attitudes (r=.44). Most parents were afraid to provide sex education because of their unfamiliarity with teaching methods and their lack of knowledge. However, 50 of the parents wanted to receive sex-related education.
Conclusion We found that parents would like to learn more about sex education from expert lectures or professional organizations. They were interested in topics including the sexual structure of males/females and sexual physiology. Open communication between parents and their children regarding sex-related issues is important. It is crucial to provide accurate and up-to-date sex education information to parents so that they can effectively teach their children at home.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to develop an experience-based sex education program to improve adjustment to puberty in elementary school students in the upper grades and to verify its effectiveness.
Methods This study had a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The subjects of this study were a total of 95 sixth-graders in Y city (experimental group: 48, control group: 47). The measurement variables were sexual knowledge, body image, self-esteem, and satisfaction with life. Four sessions of the experience-based sex education program to improve adjustment to puberty, consisting of 40 minutes per session, were provided to the experimental group.
Results Children’s sexual knowledge, self-esteem, and satisfaction with life in the experimental group, which participated in the experience-based sexual education program to improve adjustment to puberty, showed a significant increase compared to the control group. However, there was no statistically significant difference in body image.
Conclusion This study presents the development of an experience-based sex education program for adjustment to puberty to overcome the shortcomings of existing sex education programs that are limited to sexual knowledge and attitudes, and also verified that the sexual knowledge, self-esteem, and life satisfaction of the elementary school students who were provided with the program improved meaningfully.

Purpose This study was describes the development and implementation a sex education program with a blended learning method for university students.
Methods Sixty-eight university students were recruited either to the experimental group (n=35) or the control group (n=33). This program was developed based on the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation model. The analysis phase consisted of a literature review, focus group interview, expert consultations, and target group survey. In addition, learning objectives and structure were designed, and a printed text-book, presentation slides, cross-word puzzle, and debate topics were developed. In the implementation phase, the program was conducted 3 times over the course of 3 weeks. The evaluation phase involved verification of the effects of the program on sex-related knowledge, sexual autonomy, and justification of violence, as well as an assessment of satisfaction with the program.
Results The experimental group had significantly higher scores on sex-related knowledge (t=5.47, p<.001), sexual autonomy (t=2.40, p=.019), and justification of violence (t=2.52, p=.015) than the control group.
Conclusion The results indicate that this sex education program with blended learning was effective in meeting the needs of university students and can be widely used in this context.

PURPOSE This study was done to identify sexual knowledge and perception and current status of sex education among parents of first and second grade elementary school age children. METHODS Participants in the study were recruited from parents with a child in the lower grades and who resided in Seoul. From January 1 to February 28, 2011, data were collected using a self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed using McNemer test, paired t-test, ANONA, and Scheffe test. RESULTS Mean sexual knowledge scores for fathers and mothers were 27.74+/-4.94, and 28.62+/-4.70 respectively.
Parent's sexual knowledge correlated with their occupation, education level, and family's monthly income. CONCLUSION Study results showed that both parents are aware of the need for sex education. However, at home, mothers have a more active attitude towards sex education and conduct the education more often than fathers.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to provide basic data to develop appropriate sexual education program for children in day care centers. METHODS The data were collected from 361 day care center teachers using self-report questionnaire. RESULTS 1) The mean score of the degree of sexual education for children was high at the score of 4.18 (+/-0.43). 2) In the mean score of 3 sub-areas, 'living' area was at the highest at the point of 4.32 (+/-0.31), 'social' area was 4.28 (+/-0.46), and 'physical' area was 3.94 (+/-0.55). 3) There was significant difference in the degree of sexual education requirement according to subject's major (t=-2.586, p=.010). CONCLUSION It is necessary to include all items of sexual education for early-childhood children in day care center.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of sex education using multimedia program on knowledge and attitude about sex. METHOD The subjects of this study were 282 middle school boys in seoul. The data were collected from the 4th of Jun.
to 30th of Jun. 2001. This program consisted of 6 subtopics and provided 3 sessions for each class. The per-test was given before the therapy to measure variables and the post-test was performed after intervention. The data were analyzed by the SAS program using t-test. RESULT The results of this study are as follows. After intervention, the level of knowledge and attitude were increased significantly. CONCLUSION The sex education using multimedia program is effective in helping middle school boys improve their healthy attitudes and thoughts toward sex.
It is very important for elementary school students in sixth grades who are reaching the age of puberty to acquire right knowledge and desirable attitude toward sex so that can overcome psychological instability caused by physical growth, be responsible for their behaviors and lead happy lives. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to find out the effects of sex educatin in the population of primary school students. The subjects of this study were 767 six-grades in one private and two public elementary school in Seoul. The research tool was a questionnaire based on a literature review. The sex education given to the subjects included 50 minutes lecture. The research methodology included data collection done before and the sex education was given to the subjects, to assess their knowledge of, and attitude toward sex, one week later after the sex education was given to assess change in knowledge of, and attitude to, sex. The data was analyzed through pc-SAS program. real numbers, percentage, t-test, and ANOVA were utilized. The results of this study are as follows : 1. After sex education, the score of sixth grade elementary students' sex knowledge was higher than before(t=11.92, p=0.0001) 2. After sex education, the score of sixth grade elementary students' sex attitude was higher than before(t=2.08, p=0.0373). From the above findings, it can be said that sex education given to the children reaching the age of puberty significantly influences their knowledge of, and attitude toward.
Therefore, for children to have the sound knowledge and positive attitude of sec, it is suggested that sex education should be included in their curriculum in order that systematic sex education be practiced.
